“27 Banks in Three Years – Anything to Catch The Perfect Wave.” Or the perfect meatball sandwich. For a film that goes through such feats of testosterone, surfing, sky diving, playing football on the beach, to be “100% Adrenaline,” it is really about finding the perfect pair: partners, friends, lovers and two (2!) meatball sandwiches. Kathryn Bigelow has made a career out of portraying masculinity in all of its grit, glamor and unrequited eroticism. From the neo-cowboy vampires of Near Dark, to the cops-and-robbers of Point Break and on to the patriotic soldiers of The Hurt Locker and Zero Dark Thirty, Bigelow has established herself as a filmmaker that is fully aware of her subjects, even if they, and the audience, aren’t. Point Break may not be the film that won her an Academy Award for Best Director, but it is her magnum opus of excess and quite possibly the best, or only, film ever made about surfing bank robbers that dress up as ex-presidents, and only live to get radical. Plus, where else are you going to see Patrick Swayze go full Road House on the singer from Red Hot Chili Peppers?

As usual, issues of Paracinema will be available for purchase before the show and we’ll have a very (very) limited amount of posters (pictured above) on hand as well. Don’t miss out, the tickets are going fast!

Join your host Justin at the NYC area Alamo Drafthouse tonight at 8PM as he hosts a night of ex-presidents, meatball sandwiches, and beach football by fire. It’s all on 35mm, and only $5!
