Welcome back to the ‘Flix Film Festival folks. Summer is here and the temperatures are going up so why not stay in, stay cool, and watch some bone-i-fide winners?

Miller's Crossing

Miller’s Crossing (1990)

This early Coen Brothers effort is gangster-ific. Tons of great slang, twists and turns, and their trademark gift for creating characters, make this one a great watch.

Shotgun Stories

Shotgun Stories (2007)

Wow this one packs a punch. The debut feature from the director of Take Shelter and Mud, this one’s Southern fried greatness. Blood feud + Michael Shannon + Arkansas = my kinda movie. Fans of grit lit take note.

Fightville

Fightville (2011)

Great MMA documentary featuring the humble rise of regional ass kickers. The fighters are the real deal too, with the main star of the film having a damn good UFC record.

The Choirboys

The Choirboys (1977)

Like a proto-Police Academy, The Choirboys chronicles all the shenanigans a group of misfit cops get into. Featuring Louis Gossett Jr., Charles Durning, Randy Quaid, James Woods, and many other familiar faces. Rough comedy for a rough group of guys.

Dead Heat

Dead Heat (1988)

I watched this one years ago but it’s still worth mentioning. Treat Williams and Joe Piscopo are super cops until one gets turned into a zombie. Now they’ve got to get the bad guys, undead style. Totally ridiculous and fun.
