This Week in Links 6/29/12

This past week found my Google Reader chock full of earthly delights…

Like Chris Hemsworth 8 times over at MNPP.

OK, enough of that (delicious) silliness. This next one is actually from last week, but I had to share it. It’s entitled “‘Queering’ Disney.” That tells you all you need to know. I’m not a fan of a lot of Disney output, specifically their fairytale adaptations. They actually whip me into a murderous rage. This piece is from the POV of a Disney fan, but a fan who can see the potential harm in stereotyping feminine male characters.

Here’s a Total Recall trailer. I saw it before Snow White and the Huntsman. It looks like junk. The post at Badass Digest that’s attached to said trailer pretty much hammers it home. (I also saw the trailer for the new Bourne movie. That looks infinitely more interesting than this.)

Much like Christine over at Fascination with Fear, I’m totally into True Blood. Sure, I’m a season behind, and sometimes it bores me to tears, but it’s an addiction I don’t want to quit… Anyway, Christine put together a post listing the reasons why vampires are superior to werewolves in the dating department. It made me laugh.

Finally, and maybe most excitingly, there’s an interview on the Gentlemen’s Guide to Midnite Cinema feed with James Gracey conducted by Aaron of Death Rattle fame. It’s like all my favorite things came together to be awesome. And be sure to stick around post interview as the boys review 1988′s Spider Labyrinth. If you aren’t listening to the GGTMC, you should be. And James is pretty much a fixture round these parts with his amazing Audiodrome series (you can also see him tackle Val Lewton [not literally] in Paracinema 16). This is something you kind of HAVE to listen to.

Thank you very much for the shout-out on our Disney piece!

Oh, no problem! It was amazing. Thank you!

  • Christine Hadden

Aww, thanks so much for the shout-out! And as sexy as Alcide the werewolf is on True Blood, I will always be a fang-banger. :)

      Eric.

      That is all.

I think the new Total Recall looks awesome. I’m wary of the two female leads, but I think it looks like a lot of fun.
