Over the last year I’ve kept track of every film I’ve watched. Each month I gathered together my top 5. New releases, documentaries, things I should have seen years ago, everything was eligible as long as I’d never seen it before. So, to close things up and tie it all together, here are my 10 favorite films viewed for the first time in 2011.

The Fountain (2006)

Rosemary’s Baby (1968)

Blow Out (1981)

The Sentinel (1977)

The Taking of Pelham One Two Three (1974)

The Conversation (1974)

Fish Tank (2009)

Lake Mungo (2008)

Deathtrap (1982)

Angel (2007)

I’m still compiling my top 10 of 2011 list. Taking a cue from my friends over at The Gentlemen’s Guide to Midnite Cinema, I’m waiting until February so I can get in as many new releases as possible.

I never even thought to put Fish Tank in my 2011! If I did, I think I could make just a Fassbender list.
Also, Lake Mungo destroyed me. Most upsetting film ever.

The Conversation is pretty mind-blowing. Every time I start talking about it I want to immediately stop and watch it!

No particular order! (But closer to 1.)

    Thanks, Will!
Charley Varrick has been on my road map since I heard you guys discuss it. I’ll be moving it up the queue.
