Let me start off by saying The Strangers opens today. There has been oh so much buzz about it. It may not suck, who knows? Everyone has had opinions regarding it for a long while. “It looks like Funny Games“, “it looks like the original Funny Games“, “it looks like Ils“, “Scott Speedman is lame”… you know, opinions and the like. Well, I haven’t seen either Funny Games. And yes, Scott Speedman is a tool. But having just watched Ils, there is no way The Strangers is going to be able to touch it, I mean, if it is even anything like it. Cuz I still don’t know what film it’s supposed to be ripping off!
Ils was phenomenal. Lately I’ve been singing the praises of anything with a subtitle, but I swear this movie is sooooooooooooooooooo good. It was super creepy and made me tense the whole time. It was very atmospheric and a touch with the disturbing. It was also kind of dark, which made it a little hard to follow the action at times. It worked though. It added to the confusion.
I still want to see Funny Games (both) and I’ll eventually possibly get around to seeing The Strangers. I’m sure all of my fellow bloggers will let me know what film it was truly coping by Monday.
